Tattoo Aftercare
Proper aftercare is essential for your tattoo to heal beautifully. Follow these instructions carefully.
First 24 Hours
- Leave the bandage on for 3-5 days after your appointment (or as directed by your artist).
- After removing the bandage, gently wash the tattoo with lukewarm water and a mild, fragrance-free soap.
- Air dry after washing — do not rub with a towel.
- Apply a thin layer of unscented moisturizer or tattoo aftercare ointment (Aquaphor, Hustle Butter, or similar).
- Do not re-bandage after removal.
Days 2 - 14 (Healing Phase)
- Wash your tattoo 2-3 times daily with lukewarm water and mild soap.
- Apply a thin layer of unscented moisturizer after each wash.
- Your tattoo will begin to peel and flake. This is completely normal. Do not pick, scratch, or peel the flaking skin.
- Wear loose, breathable clothing over the tattooed area.
- Avoid tight clothing or anything that rubs against the tattoo.
What to Avoid
- No swimming — pools, lakes, hot tubs, or ocean for at least 2-3 weeks.
- No soaking — avoid baths, saunas, and steam rooms. Quick showers only.
- No direct sunlight — keep the tattoo out of the sun during healing.
- No scratching or picking — even if it itches. Gently slap the area if needed.
- No gym/heavy exercise for the first few days, especially if the tattoo is in a high-movement area.
- No alcohol or blood thinners for 24 hours after your session.
Long-Term Care
- Once healed, always apply SPF 30+ sunscreen to your tattoo when exposed to sunlight to prevent fading.
- Keep your skin moisturized to maintain the vibrancy of your tattoo.
- Your tattoo is fully healed in approximately 4-6 weeks, though deeper layers continue healing for several months.
